Receiving dental implants is much less complicated than it might seem. Implants can easily take the place of a single tooth, or even a full set of teeth.

Treatment methods are ordinarily completed under local anesthetic or light sedation. Often, a dental implant may be placed at very same time as tooth extraction. A short-term crown will be affixed to ensure the patient won't walk out of our office with absent teeth.

Installing dental implants is typically carried out in two steps. In the first step, the dental implant (a small titanium apparatus the same shape as a tooth root) is positioned directly under the gum tissue. Some time will be given for the dental implant to connect to your bone, an approach referred to as osseointegration.

The next step involves placement just after osseointegration. A post or custom abutment that extends higher than the gum line is installed, and impressions and bite registrations are prepared. A substitute tooth (or crown) is tailor made at the laboratory and are attached to the post with cement or possibly a very small screw.
