Chinese Astrology is a special kind of astrology that is based on the combination together of traditional astronomy and calendars. Chinese Horoscope study began to develop during the Han Dynasty, which was roughly between 2nd Century BC to 2nd Century AD, and it had very strong ties to astronomy. It is also something that has a very close relation to Chinese philosophy and it clearly uses the principles of yin and yang. Some of the concepts that Chinese astrology does have are not to be found in any astrology concept that belongs to Western astrology.
Some of these very individual concepts include the wu xing teachings, 10 Celestial Stems, 12 Earthly Branches, and the luni-solar calendar. This luni-solar calendar is both a moon calendar and a sun calendar. The time calculation after each year, month, day, and shichen are also very different from those belonging to Western astrology formats.
There are five classical planets in number that are associated with wu xing and Chinese astrology. These five planets are Venus, which is Metal, and the symbol is the White Tiger. There is Jupiter, which is Wood, and the symbol is Azure Dragon. The next planet is Mercury, which is Water, and the symbol is Black Tortoise. The next one is Mars, which is Fire, and the symbol is no other than Vermilion Bird. The last planet in the list of the wu xing is Saturn, which is Earth, and the symbol is Yellow Dragon.
Chinese astrology is something that is in tune with a person's specific destiny, and this destiny is said to be determined mainly by the position that the classical planets are in at a certain given time. The position of these major planets during a person's birth are said to be aligned with the Sun, Moon, and comets too. What also strongly influences a person's destiny is also the individual's time of birth and their overall Zodiac Sign too. The Chinese astrology system of 12-year-cycle with its unique animal signs was built from the observations taken of the planet Jupiter.
